Cakes and Canals

Hey everyone!!!

This week was super awesome!! Which is surprising because we were in self isolation but it was one of the best weeks yet

Highlights include zone conference via zoom call and singing the opening hymn which was awful and we found out our house showed up on the call/phone screen of half the mission, and we showed up three times and every time we were just laughing, not singing. So that was fun.

We also got papusas again and dropped some off at the elders house and we didn't want ours to get cold and gross so we were just going to eat them on the grass in their yard but then the elders brought out their table and chairs for us and we ate our papusas in their front yard at their kitchen table. So that was an experience.

The next day was our favorite senior missionary's birthday, elder Robison, so we made him a cake and brought it to him but it ended up being a wild goose chase trying to track him down but it was worth it because he was SO HAPPY and it was so fun.

And then the next day we went fishing and Sister Haymond and I walked away for a few minutes then we hear this big splash and Sister Slade fell into the canal and I think it was the funniest thing I've ever seen. We were fishing on a little cement ledge that was like 3 feet above the water and she lost her balance and fell in completely submerging herself in gross canal and there were people in their backyard who saw the whole thing so that was definitely a highlight. She survived though and we all had a good laugh.

Y'all are great and I love you all! Write someone a kind note and give it to them!

Pics include us in our huge masks and them in our newer nicer ones that actually fit so that is a blessing
And the cake is a flat tire because elder Robison is the person in charge of cars

Baby Turtles and Bangs

Hello peeps!

This week was superb :) started off with Sister Haymond and I serving in the Bishops storehouse which was super fun and it even got a little spicy with two of the ladies in charge arguing about something for like 20 mins. Pretty funny.

Transfers also happened this week- Sister Stucki left for Miami and sister Edwards is our new roommate :) she's awesome.

Oh yeah how could I forget. Wednesday at about 3 pm i decided I wanted bangs so now I have bangs. And I guess they looked so good Sister Slade decided to get bangs as well and so I cut her bangs with my freshly cut bangs. So that's just a sneak peek into our life.

Other than that we've just been calling a lot of people and trying to set up appointments so that's been good we've been able to have some good convos.

Easter was super awesome, we picked up some food from a member and they gave all four of us Easter baskets!! That was SO nice of them and it was so fun.

Today we went fishing and found a baby turtle!

Other than that we've been doing a lot of studying and I was reading about Mart Magdalene, the first witness of the resurrected Christ and I just echo the words He is Risen!! And He is the hope of the world! I hope yall had a happy Easter!!

Love you all!

Let The Good Times Roll

Hello everyone, we are on week of 3 of self isolation. And things just become funnier and funnier.

This week we got special permission from President Garns to go to the Bishop Storehouse and serve there which was really fun. It was super nice.

Also one of the senior couples asked us to help clean the apartments of those senior missionaries that already left. So that was super fun as well. It's always nice to get out of the house.

Other than that we've kept ourselves busy with either doing sprints in the parking lot outside our apartment or playing steamroller in our room. It's a good life.

The highlight however was watching General Conference!! It was awesome and I loved it. I hope everyone wat had it or has plans to.

This morning we watched the movie Ephraim's Rescue. And there is a part where Ephraim, after healing a member of the pioneer handcart company, gets an answer to his prayer from the very person he helped. And I just know that as we strive to help and serve others, we are helped even more than what we put forth to help.

Love you all!

Pics include us in our masks before shopping this morning
Me trying to clean our windows with a toothbrush but sadly the screens can't come off and the windows are gross from before we moved in
At the bishops storehouse
And whenever someone doesn't answer a video call the screen freezes when the call stops and it's always funny to see our faces. So hope you enjoy

Day 12 of Self Isolation

We entered the double digits this week!

Crazy stuff. But this week was good, pretty much the same as last week. Except we went different places because the parks are now closed and with fewer people. So just ourselves. But it's still been good! We were actually able to help pack up some of the senior missionaries' apartments (just their kitchens) because they had to leave so soon and the apartments aren't going to be used for awhile so that was nice to do service. And the other fun thing this week is that we had a lunch zoom call with all of the sisters in the mission with Sister Garns.

Sister Haymond caught her first fish this week! Which was fun to watch her freak out. And one of the sisters I live with got some fabric for sewing dolls for refugees from her mom so that has been a nice thing to do.

Yesterday we were able to go to a member's home for the sacrament which is always nice and were able to talk about how nice it is knowing that God has a plan for each one of us and that He is in control. So that is all I got for this week!

Love you all and hope you a safe week!

Self Isolation Day 6

Hey everyone!

This week was good! Very different because as of Tuesday night we went into "self isolation" as a mission so we are now told to stay in our apartments and not go into people's houses. We have been switching our missionary efforts to online so it's fun trying to figure that out. And Facebook got approved last night for our mission so we will be working on that this week. Also fun fact is there's a big park across the street from our apartment where they do 'drive thru Corona testing'

Other than that we have been getting creative in our apartment. Last night we moved all of our beds into the living room so that was fun. We get two hours of 'outside time' a day so we have been meeting up with other missionaries in our area (but don't worry we keep it under 10 people- don't want anyone thinking us missionaries are out here breaking the law or anything)  So this week outside time was
Day 1 fishing with the Hollywood Elders
Day 2 playing Pickleball with the Plantation Elders
Day 3 playing volleyball with the Plantation elders at the nicest park I've ever been to
Day 4 having a picnic at a super cool park with the Hollywood Sisters
Day 5 taking a nap at a different super cool park with just our house
And today we are probably going to go biking by the Everglades so we are excited.

As you can tell outside time is the best time and we go to a lot of parks- but not the Corona Virus drive through one don't worry.

But things are still good and we were able to go to our ward mission leader's house yesterday for sacrament meeting and it was really nice they're a super awesome family. We talked about the allegory of the Olive tree and when the scriptures mention digging and the roots of the tree so it can grow easier it made me think of trials. And how a lot of times trials can bring out our weakness and the parts of our personality that we try to bury but in the process of doing y'all are staying safe and sane!

Now Everyone Wants to Get TP'd

Hey everyone!

This week was crazy! I hope everyone is staying safe!

This week included exchanges and I was with Sister Krogh for the day and it was fun- she's one of my favorites. The day included us overestimating our speed walking abilities and so we thought we could make it in this neighborhood to visit a person but really we barely made it halfway before we had to turn back because we had to be somewhere else.

Friday we had breakfast with our zone before our 9er 9er. Which was really fun. Then we went to this one neighborhood and met THE most interesting man. In fact I actually said wow you are the most interesting man just like the commercials (probs not the best to reference beer commercials while being a missionary on someone's door step but hey nobody's perfect) and he responded- "you met him"
He is both jewish and Christian and worked as a paramedic for boat races. And the insane kind, boats with 4 engines that go 150mph on the open ocean and in rough waters he said about 4 people die per race. So he was telling us how he worked for super rich people and how he'd be the one diving in from a helicopter to save the people in boat wrecks. And he just had the craziest stories and so we were talking to him for almost an hour.

We also had dinner at Panera with one of our members and in the middle of dinner he sneezed and everyone whipped their heads around and it was pretty funny.

The work is still going though! This week we were obviously talking a lot about the Corona virus and so we would talk with everyone about how nice it is to know that God is there and He has a plan. And when the world gets crazy we can stay calm because we know His plan. I love you all and hope you have a great week!

A Bearded Woman Prayed On Us

Hey everyone!

This week was amazing. Sister Haymond and I have been having a blast. The highlights from knocking include chasing down people that were walking by to talk to them and then the title- a lady with some substantial whiskers came and prayed on us. At first we thought she was going to give us a hug but she ended up not... haha

This week started off with zone conference and we did a bunch of outdoor games and my favorite was blindfolded dodgeball. It was us and our companions so one companion is blindfolded and the other has to direct them. The companion that isn't blindfolded cant touch the ball or anything so it makes for a super funny game to watch because everyone who is blindfolded was in constant fear of getting hit so they walk around crouched over. And I was doing thriller walk. Haha. The highlight was Sister Haymond telling me to throw it and I said straight ahead? And she said yes so I did and then I hit her. Oops.

We got papusas on Friday with the hermanas that live with us which was fun. And then Saturday we actually got rear ended but we had our bike rack on so no damage was done.  To either car.

Today we played clue with our zone and it was fun. Sadly I was not the culprit or the winner. Sad day.

This week we watched a video all about including people and reaching our to those we know that maybe don't receive as much love. It's a video by Jean B. Bingham called focus on the one and it's super good I challenge all of y'all to watch it.

Love you all!
